Cars on beach permit

Vehicle access is permitted on Aldinga, Moana, Sellicks and Silver Sands beaches between the hours of 5.30am and 11.59pm.

Vehicle access is restricted on all beaches between the hours of 12 midnight and 5.30am.

A seasonal winter closure effective from 1 May to 30 September each year restricts vehicle access on Aldinga Beach, south of the Aldinga Beach access ramp. Restrictions are clearly sign posted and fines of $187 may apply.

Beach access ramps may be monitored during December and March each year. Cars can only access the beach if drivers show a current beach permit or pay the vehicle access fee of $8. This ramp fee can be paid via cash or card. Permission is granted under clause 9.6.2 of the Foreshore By-law.

Ramps are attended by volunteers on most weekends, public holidays or when the temperature at Noarlunga is forecast to be above 25°C.

In person

Step 1.Are you eligible for a free permit?

Permits are free for owners and tenants of residential properties within our council area.

They are available from all council offices, libraries and the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Visitor Information Centre from November each year.

You will need to provide proof of residency when collecting your beach permit (eg drivers licence or rates notice).

At the ramp, presenting your drivers licence or rates notice will not be accepted.

There is a limit of one beach permit per property or household

Step 2.If you are not a resident/property owner

Non-residents and those unable to produce a beach permit can pay $8 ramp fee to access the beach.

It is an offence to drive a vehicle on the beach without a permit or without paying the $8 access fee at times when the ramps are monitored. Fines of $187 apply.
