The City of Onkaparinga provides an enviable place in which to live, work, visit and invest. Our region not only boasts some of Adelaide's most spectacular ‘Hills, Valleys & Beaches’ scenery, it is also made up of industrious and hardworking people with a strong sense of community and environment.

Commercial activity in our city ranges from small local businesses to worldwide leading exporters. The City of Onkaparinga features a prosperous economy, as we work together to renew our old economy to capitalise on new opportunities both locally and globally.

The region’s NBN high speed broadband enabled economy features highly adaptive small to medium metropolitan enterprises and its wine, food and tourism underpin the rural and coastal areas creating strong and vibrant communities.

The region is also beginning to support some very successful niche industries in emerging technology fields such as advanced manufacturing, environmental products, medical devices, natural pharmaceuticals, and water services. Lonsdale is the main industrial area with secondary light industry areas at Aldinga, Hackham, Reynella and Seaford.

The old oil refinery at Port Stanvac has been demolished and the land is currently under remediation, before being released to the industrial and commercial market as a long term major employment precinct consolidating the future of the region.
