City of Onkaparinga Volunteers are individuals who are approved by, and registered with, the City of Onkaparinga to support the delivery of over 30 services, activities, programs or projects.

If you require support to complete our online or paper volunteer application form, or have a disability where the support of a "buddy" would assist your application, the selection process or initial volunteer training, please contact the Human Resources Officer on 8301 7243.

Volunteer selection and introduction

All our volunteer roles have personal and role requirements to ensure best fit for both the role and the individual.

Our volunteer selection process includes:

  • Completion of application form
  • Initial screening discussion (usually by phone)
  • Role interview with the selected program
  • Referee checks
  • DHS screening (where necessary)

All successful volunteer applicants must also attend a short council volunteering orientation where they will be required to sign a Volunteer Agreement prior to starting at their volunteering site/program 

On first attendance at their volunteering site/program, volunteers will receive a role specific induction to prepare them for their role and the management of Work, Health and Safety matters.
